The CE comes with three months free of Teamspeak, but a free program would be preferable.

Im pretty sure you can use teamspeak for free as well. The 3 months refers to THEM hosting a server for you. You're still capable of running one off your computer if you want, assuming you have enough bandwidth to handle several peeps, and gw running.

Another idea would be to try run ventrilio
Setting up the server is rather strange but on resource usage its pretty slim, likewise with the client

Except that Ventrilo does not have any free servers, if you do not want to host your own; At least, that are easily found. You can run Teamspeak off of your own computer or use one of the thousands of free public servers that are easily found within the client software.

It'd be cool if GW built in a chat client like CounterStrike did, so you could chat to guild, party, etc.

True, but the counterstrike chat is so horridly crappy all I ever hear is "mumble mumble static incohierant noise". besides, its not TOO much work to set up an external one. :P

I think that would be horrible pain bandwidth in a streaming type game. I am not sure how the GuildWars server technology works, but I do know bandwidth. And online chat is a bandwidth monster waiting to bring your bandwidth to it's knees. Don't get me wrong, it would be kinda neat. But, I am pretty sure we'd prolly have to pay for something like that because it would be using vast amounts of bandwidth, which is what we all pay for to get online. We don't pay for the connection, we pay for the bandwidth
Besides, Teamspeak's client is very easy to configure and find a free server.

Any suggestions on a good, cheap headset to buy?

Running a Teamspeak server on your own computer is really simple. It took me no longer than a half hour to master it, and I have mine set up to only allow 8 people so that I don't eat up my bandwidth. You have choices on how much bandwidth the codec takes up, too, so try to choose a codec in it that is minimum bandwidth with necessary quality if you have a slow connection.
Oh, and don't forget to tell your router to forward port 8767 to your computer's local IP address. You just tell somebody who you want to connect your IP address assigned by your ISP, and they can connect.
If you end up partying with me, I'll be telling you my IP address. My router will not respond to anything other than port 8767 though, so don't try anything funny.

I use this headset:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16826153002
It lights up (you can toggle it), detachable mic, 5.1 surround sound (emulates 7.1 if you have the AC-1), and won't fall apart like those cheap Logitech headsets :P
Sennheiser makes good earphones as well, you can't go wrong with it.
